About Jodi

FELLOW SOJOURNERS...

Like you, I too am navigating life here on earth amidst all its sorrow and joy, struggle and beauty, hopes and disappointments. As a woman and a mother of four daughters (one welcomed into our family through marriage to my son), I know intimately the issues which invade the hearts and minds of women. God has also blessed my husband and I with over eighteen years of raising a child with special needs. The challenges and joy that accompany our family in this have been ones that God has used to deepen my understanding of Him, as well as my understanding of what it means to be human. Working with children and youth of all abilities is one of the greatest blessings in counselling, as I inevitably encounter the bravery of young people who share their hurts and questions with me.

Having been married to my husband for over twenty-seven years, the reality that marriage involves continual battles of the heart as we choose to love or hate, forgive or become embittered, honor or manipulate one another, has pushed me to seek to understand more of what God intends for us in relationship.

While I acknowledge that everyone's story is unique, and no one's experience of pain is the same as another, I do believe there are commonalities of the heart (which are seen most clearly in how we respond to the things that come our way). With this understanding, I have sought, with much study and prayer throughout my life, to discern the human heart and all its struggles, so that I might be used by God to walk alongside others in times of pain and confusion. As Paul says in 2 Corinthians,

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God" (2 Cor. 1: 3-4).

I look forward to hearing your story . . .
